KolliBerri - The Coffee Farm

KolliBerri is a Speciality Green Bean Coffee Farm in Mudigere village of Chikmagalur. Kollibyle Estate is a 70 year old family owned enterprise run by the women folk of the third generation.

Located in the Western Ghats—a recognised biodiversity hotspot—at a height of about 3500 feet above sea level, Kollibyle is surrounded by jungles and coffee plantations, where fruits and spices are grown.

We recognise the importance, and practice sustainable farming, ensuring that the quality of soil is maintained and the environment conserved. The fertilizers used at the plantation are mostly organic and produced through composting.

Coffee Cultivation & Flowering

Growing Coffee plants is actually a lot like growing Flowering Plants initially. A typical Coffee Plant starts to flower in about 3-4 years of planting. Flowering is an essential part of the plant's lifecycle to produce coffee cherries and beans. The initial stages are crucial in determining the health and quality of the plant and the beans it can generate

Green Bean Coffee and Coffee Cherry

The green cherry is the Fruit that grows from the coffee flower. It starts as small as a bead and grows bigger in about 3 to 4 months to its potential size. It takes another 3 to 4 months for the fruit to ripen and turn into a Coffee Cherry. When ripe, the coffee cherries turn bright red or purplish and are ready to be picked and made into coffee beans

Hand-picked and Sun dried

Skillfully hand-picked coffee berries are evolved into coffee beans through a host of processes which include washing, drying, peeling and sorting. Some coffee berries are picked and sun dried directly. Our post-harvest processes are done in traditional and modern ways keeping in mind sustainability. Every such step adds to the quality and flavour of the coffee
